BIEN 249: Integration of Computational and Experimental Biology
Multidisciplinary introduction to the mathematical concepts of design of experiments, information content, causation versus correlation, and statistical analysis with respect to hypothesis testing, model development, and parameter estimation. Covers state-of-the-art experimental techniques in proteomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, and genetics.

About the Instructor
Professor of Bioengineering Dimitrios Morikis practices cross-disciplinary research in the fields of bioengineering, biopharmaceutical discovery, biophysics, structural biology, and computational chemistry. His current research efforts focus on understanding of the physicochemical basis of immune system function and the design of inhibitors against ill-regulated immune system. He is a member of the following professional organizations: American Association for the Advancement of Science, Biophysical Society, American Chemical Society, and Biomedical Engineering Society.
