ENGR 296: Project Design Course (includes a literature review and a report)

The Project Design Course is intended to provide a problem analysis and system design activity similar to assignments in professional engineering, and the opportunity to perfect the skills of technical writing and oral presentation. All MSOL students must complete a total of four credit hours of the project course in a subject of interest with respect to their specialization area.

Course Learning Objectives

At the completion of this course, the engineer will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate an ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering
  2. Demonstrate an ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data
  3. Ability to gather, analyze, and correlate professional information relating to their project
  4. Demonstrate an ability to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems
  5. Gain knowledge and understanding of professional and ethical responsibility
  6. Demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively
  7. An awareness of the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, business, environmental, and societal context
  8. Demonstrate an ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice
